I am thrilled report that my first fundraiser of summertime was an outstanding success. With great support from over 100 guests, our campaign was able to raise almost $2500. We also had a great time meeting many new people that have been introduced to the campaign. Our supporters included several people from Sun City, members of my church family at Wellspring Methodist, friends, neighbors, and opponents of the current commissioner's court.
One part that is a little bit troubling is the fact that Republicans donated over $2000 to the campaign and Democrats less than $500. Of course we are happy with all the support, but it will be a challenge for the Democrats to keep focused on local races and realize it is the local races that will more directly affect their lives.
I will be direct. I need much more campaign funding to get our message of open, balanced government to the voters of precinct 3.
Thanks to everyone for the support. I am humbled and motivated. We will win in November with strong, bi-partisan support of our issues and platforms. Way to go team.

What?
Don't underestimate your fellow Democrats knowledge of politics.
Just because you put your name on a ballot as a Democrat, doesn't mean you automatically gain all their votes. I would say the challenge is not to get Republicans to vote for you, but to convince the Democrats that you are on their side of the issues. That you are truly a Democrat. It's not their fault all your friends are embarrassed Republicans who voted for Bush. We did not vote for Bush. Don't blame us.
